This ½ acre garden is open to visitors under the National Garden Scheme during May and June and packs in a lot for visitors to enjoy. The four separate areas include open lawned areas surrounded by herbaceous, tree and shrub borders. The area to the front of the house rises up from the road with a spectacular bank of spring flowers, levelling off to newly redeveloped lawn and borders. The mature trees at the fringes include Maple, Cherry, Willow, a magnificent flowering Cherry, and several species of Pine, all of which are under planted with herbaceous borders.
Surrounded by shrub and herbaceous borders, the large lawned area to the rear of the property is a sheltered, private, and peaceful setting in which to sit and enjoy a quiet break during the day. Here light refreshments are available on a self-service basis.
Leading off from the lawn is the ‘hidden garden’, which includes borders intensively planted with over 550 species and cultivars of herbaceous plants. The extensive range of Aquilegia is a delight in May , and in June you will find the Campanulas in flower, including all five native species. The paths, which wind through the borders, add to the overall experience.
Beyond the herbaceous borders is a mini woodland, a very different area, overhung by mature trees and under planted with woodland and shade tolerant plants. |

Refreshments |
|
Stay a while and enjoy some light refreshments. Tea and coffee is available on a self-service basis. Home made cakes and tray-bakes are a delicacy not to be missed. As well as quenching your thirst you will be further contributing to the funds of the National Garden Scheme. Remember the NGS supports a wide range of charitable organisations. |

Despite opening for only 5 weeks during 2010, we enjoyed a record number of visitors resulting in a record contribution to the NGS. I am sure the feature in the June edition of Wiltshire Life helped to promote the garden. We are open for 5 weeks during May and June for 2011 and hope to see many familiar faces again this year as well as significant numbers of new visitors. See the Calendar page for dates |
